World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

“War of Thorns” Begins with the BFA Pre-Patch!

Are you getting ready to log into World of Warcraft now that the pre-patch is in place? Curious about what to expect or what all these changes are? Well, you’ve come to the right place. The “War of Thorns” has begun and you’ll notice that things have changed a bit since you last checked your toon.

The website mmorpg.com has written a fantastic guide about the changes that you can access here. Most players already know about modifications such as the stat squish and the death of artifact weapons. However, many don’t know about the new story “War of Thorns” that comes along with the pre-patch.

What’s the big deal with this story arc?

This storyline is promised to contain rewards and will be ending once Battle for Azeroth goes live. This story will unfold with a bit of new contact each week until the new expansion comes out. The Horde and Alliance are the main focus of this story now that the Burning Legion is under control. The Seething Shore near Silithus is going to be one of the main areas of contention.

As you may know, there are some changes to PvP with the new patch in place. War Mode can be turned on or off depending upon your preference. This allows you to either engage in PvP or avoid it without having to change servers. This new mode is only accessible to be changed in Orgimmar if you’re Horde or Stormwind if you’re Alliance. Notable for those who want to level as quickly as possible, War Mode will grant players more experience. Once you reach level 120 (the maximum level with BFA), War Mode will continue to reward you with more from world quests you complete.

A few other changes you may not be aware of are changes to pet battles, the ability to purchase legendaries you don’t have, the loss of master loot, and the disappearance of first aid. You will also notice a Communities system so that you can have a WoW group set up to help with exactly what you’re looking for.

Have you logged in and begun War of Thorns yet? What do you think of the changes? Let us know in the comments!
