Survive, Stealth, and be Scared in the Maid of Sker
Maid of Sker is set in a remote hotel with a macabre history. It draws its influences from Welsh folklore. Specifically, from R.D. Blackmore’s 19th century novel, The Maid of Sker, and the Welsh ballad, “Y Ferch o’r Sger.” The trailer below shows off the stunning landscape. There is a beautiful forest around the Sker house, showing off the 4k graphics. Within the decrepit manor, things are beautiful in their own way.
The story is based on true events and the real-life Sker House (only a few miles from the developer’s home-town). Cistercian monks built the manor nearly a millennium ago. The Sker House has long had a reputation for the paranormal. Developer Wales Interactive will explore the house’s history using the story of Elizabeth Williams. Set in 1898, The player will see the story from the point of view of musician Thomas Evans. He is ‘thrust into a terrifying battle to save the woman he loves.’
The emphasis is on exploration and stealth. The developers want every breath to be a gamble, and are implementing a sound-based AI system. Additionally, no weapons are available to Mr. Evans. The only things the player will have access to are traps and distractions. Finally, the enemies will get stronger as you progress. The game will reach a point where you will have to hold your breath to avoid being spotted.
The player’s decisions will lead to different narratives, unlocking unique stories with multiple possible endings. With many possible ways of playing the game, the replay value of the game may prove greater than other games in its genre.
The survival horror game will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2019. In addition, a box version of the game will be available.
