SPIDER-MAN’S LATEST CROSSES UNLIKELY UNIVERSES.

Comic book storyline’s have a habit of crossing unusual paths.  Marvel seems to have taken this idea to the next level with Spider-Man.

Christos Gage is the writer of the upcoming Spider-Geddon event.  It is the follow up to the Spider-verse event from 2014.  Spider-verse had different versions of Spider-Man from across the multiverse teaming up against a threat.  These include SP//dr, a young girl using a power armor to stop threats, as well as Spider-Punk, who leads the Spider Army against the harsh regime of President Osborn.

Marvel’s Spider-Geddon Teaser

When the teaser image to Spider-Geddon was revealed, comic book fans were taken up by the mystery of a blacked-out figure.  Fans knew this would be a strange surprise, however, they were unsure which Spider-Man it would be.  Gage recently answered this question and said this is the Spider-Man from the upcoming PS4 game releasing this September.

Christos Gage has written both the Spider-Geddon comic and the PS4 game stories.

Gage recently sent a written statement to Polygon.  He said, “Since I have been writing for the video game for the past three years (along with the ever-amazing Dan Slott, Jon Paquette, and Ben Arfmann), it seemed like a perfect time to bring that Pete into the mix.”  He added, “… this is definitely not shoehorning a character in where he doesn’t belong. In fact, it seems like an important next step for him.”

Marvel Comics

Gage has confirmed that Spider-Geddon takes place after the events of the PlayStation game.  Gage is trying to avoid spoilers of the game in the Spider-Geddon event and adds that the events in the game “will inform where Pete’s head is during the event.”

The comic book event will begin with Edge of Spider-Geddon #1 and #2, which will serve as primers leading up to the story.  They will be for sale on August 15, 2018 and August 29, 2018 respectively.

The Spider-Man game will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018.

Spider-Geddon #0 will be in your local comic book shop on September 26, 2018.
