Rick and Morty fans may not have to wait much longer for Season 4.
After an intense battle with Adult Swim over Season 4 of Rick and Morty, the creators of the Emmy-winning show announced 70 new episodes earlier this year. The delay of the announcement of Season 4 caused friction between the show’s fans and series co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. The reward for the fans’ patience is 14 episodes instead of the usual 10.
In an Instagram post, Harmon said, “I [sic] still not sure what I’m allowed to post #insteadofmakingrickandmortyseason4. Just making sure there aren’t spoilers in this shot like conceptual drawings of Evil Morty in his Evil Pickle Morty Nano-Suit (which can kill half of all Ricks once powered by all 5 poopybuttstones) [SEASON 4 SPOILERS] [[wait do I put the warning before or after the spoiler]]” Whether or not these conceptual drawings are a joke, it shows that the Rick and Morty team are hard at work on making Season 4 a reality.
Fans are still speculating the release date of Season 4. There may be a timeline for the release date. Harmon announced Season 3 on his podcast last year, and a surprise April Fool’s episode came not long afterward. It could be possible that we see the first episode of Season 4 before the year ends if the creators follow the same timeline. One of the show’s most memorable characters, Mr. Poopybutthole, said at the end of Season 3 that he might show up wearing a big white Santa beard. This could (possibly) point to a Christmas release for at least the first episode of the new season.
