My Brother Rabbit was developed by Artifex Mundi, a Poland-based developer.
We spoke with Daniel Gizicki, the lead designer of My Brother Rabbit, and he exuded such excitement for his game and the concept behind the game. The game will include 5 chapters that should last about 5 hours according to Gizicki. This, of course, will depend on the player and their ability to work through the puzzles throughout the gameplay.
When first starting the game, you are introduced to vivid imagery that would remind one of a children’s book. Gizicki took the time to consult with children on these illustrations and the overall gameplay to ensure that it captured the childlike wonderment of the game. This was as opposed to what adults would think what children imagine and went directly to the source.
The gameplay is truly interactive. You navigate through selecting items and each item will help advance the adventure. You may notice the limited amount of text throughout. This is because Gizicki felt that language pales in comparison to the universal languages of imagination, passion, and love. The most significant part of the game is you. Losing yourself in wonderment all for the happiness of an ailing sibling.
The themes of My Brother Rabbit go deeper than the gameplay shows you.
This deeply moving game does more than entertain. This title inspires empathy and heartfelt compassion for those that are hurting, sad or hopeless. If you believe in the power of love and the healing power of imagination, you will not be disappointed by this gaming experience. You can honestly feel the heart of the people involved in this game. In a world full of so much darkness, it was nice to see a developer go the positivity route to deal with pain rather than vengeance or violence. Inspiration and hope are the order of the day, and it is my hope that you will be inspired to give some time to this title, for it is a true labor of love.
The game will be released in Fall 2018 on Steam, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. What do you think of this title? Will you be checking this one out? Let us know in the comments below!
