With Jaina’s return, it’s fitting that we have an article on her.

Lady Jaina Proudmoore is a very powerful mage. She led the Kirin Tor at one time. She is the daughter of Grand Admiral Daelin Proudmoore and Katherin Proudmoore. She has two brothers named Tandred and Derek. Behind Jaina’s beautiful eyes is a tragic tale.

After her abilities as a mage began to manifest, she was sent to Dalaran to train under Archmage Antonidas. Antonidas was the leader of the Kirin Tor at the time. Jaina became one of the most trusted mages of Dalaran. Antonidas sent her to report on occurrences in the northlands of Lordaeron during the third war. Prince Arthas, her childhood friend -and love interest- escorted her.
Jaina watched Lordaeron fall before her very eyes. She was then guided by a mysterious prophetm and grabbed what survivors she could. They fled to Kalimdor. Jaina vowed to defeat the Burning Legion. They would not win if she had anything to do with it.

The Fall of Theramore

Jaina took her expedition forces, and they defeated Archimonde and banished the Legion at the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Then, she established Theramore Isle with the human survivors in Kalimdor. Her primary hope was to reunite the distant human kingdoms. She also wanted to maintain peace with the Horde. As long as Thrall was Warchief, she was willing to maintain this peace.

Once Deathwing was defeated, Garrosh Hellscream and his Horde attacked Theramore. The city was destroyed and Jaina was changed both physically and mentally. She became more aggressive, her heart hardened, and her appearance changed. The attack also killed Rhonin. After his death, she took on the responsibility of being the leader of the Kirin Tor and became the head of the Council of Six.

Kirin Tor

Through everything she has been through, she still worked to maintain the Kirin Tor’s neutrality during the war between the Alliance and the Horde. This war touched the Pandarian shores. After the Sunreavers, who were Horde aligned, the Sunreavers worked to steal the divine bell and circumvented her protective wards, Lady Jaina’s anger rose once again. The Sunreavers were then thrown from Dalaran and the Kirin Tor became solely aligned with the Alliance.

After the Horde abandoned the Alliance during the Broken Shore battles, Lady Jaina became even more furious. It seemed the Horde would not stop. This abandonment led to many deaths, including that of King Varian. Khadgar pleaded with the council to allow the Horde to rejoin the Kirin Tor. Lady Jaina opposed the request but got outvoted and the Horde got readmitted.

Jaina left the Kirin Tor because she did not agree with the Councils decision. She would remain gone for some time, only to return in the next expansion, Battle for Azeroth. What do you think about Lady Jaina’s tragic story? Do you feel she is justified in her hatred for the Horde? Let us know in the comments, we’d love to hear from you.
