Nintendo’s Neighbors Are Coming Over to Play

2018 is proving to be a red letter year for OG gaming types. Nintendo announced today that their former rivals, Sega, will be releasing their Sega Genesis Classics onto the Nintendo Switch in the near future. As of today, the collection title is available for pre-order in the Nintendo Switch Store, but the actual release date of the title is still unknown.

Earlier this year, Sega launched Sega Genesis Classics on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. This title was well received, and that prompted Sega to release the collection onto the Nintendo Switch as well. This comes long after the Sega Ages collection was released during the last decade for the ill-fated Sega Saturn and PlayStation 2 consoles.

A Welcome Addition

Sega games being played on a wildly popular Nintendo system seems like poetic justice. Just over two decades ago, Sega was duking it out with Nintendo for console supremacy. Now, they are joining up to deliver the titles that fought in that very war. These games will surely be a welcome addition to the Switch’s growing line-up. Are you looking forward to playing some Sega Genesis Classics?
