Expansion or entirely new game? The rumor mill is churning regarding the Diablo series.
The Diablo series is one of the most prolific dungeon crawler series in gaming today. Blizzard has announced (and by extension, confirmed) a new Diablo project via its job openings website. There are multiple openings for this unannounced project, which means it might be announced at this year’s Blizzcon or even sooner than that.
There are openings for artists, engineers, and even a creative director on the job openings website.
“The minions of Hell are growing stronger…
We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional.
Our team of talented developers is growing. Our backgrounds are diverse, but we all share a real passion for what we do. We believe that if you’re looking for a tight-knit crew that celebrates self-expression and embraces collaboration, we might be a phenomenal fit for you.”
The Dungeon Artist role has major clues that could be pointing to a brand new Diablo game.
There was a rumored port for Diablo III to the Nintendo Switch back in March. However, the job description for the unannounced project points to the project as an entirely new game rather than an expansion of Diablo III. Some of the duties of the dungeon artist role include building atmospheric dungeons (emphasis on the plural) from the ground up and world building. In addition, the role requires serving as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews. The person will report to the Lead Environment Artist and Art Director.
The role also requires significant experience in being an environmental artist. The role will also require the person to mentor junior environment artists and provide feedback to those artists. As part of the role requirements, one should have 3+ years experience in required in Maya, ZBrush, and Substance painter/designer.
