Activision Blizzard has kept the layoff situation under wraps.

Despite reports that Activision Blizzard will be laying off employees, there are no indications as to who will be laid off or how many people will be laid off. There are reports on the forums that Blizzard employees are hugging and crying in the parking lot. The post received so much attention that the community hid it. This raises some questions among the fan base who are already skeptical of the actions of the company.

Many forum posters are sympathetic to the employees at this time. “It’s always a terrible thing to read or hear that people are losing their jobs or what some may have considered their career. It seems nowadays we live paycheck to paycheck with very little savings. This indeed can be a hardship especially if the type of work they do is overmanned for their career field despite the unemployment rate. It may mean going to do a job that pays much less while they wait for a job opening that fits their expertise,” said one poster, Dirge.

Nothing is for certain until the earnings call takes place.

The earnings call for the company takes place at 2 pm Pacific Time. This leaves many employees’ futures in the balance until then. The company will most likely announce two things after the earnings call: the number of layoffs and where the layoffs will take place. While there is evidence that the Heroes of the Storm team (particularly its esports division) will receive the brunt of the cuts, there is still uncertainty as to who will stay and who will go and what other games will receive cuts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the employees of the company at this time. What do you think about this situation? Can Blizzard become Blizzard again or will Activision take over for good? Let us know in the comments below!
