With smartphones becoming more powerful it’s no surprise that more and more people are using them for gaming. Gaming has become such a big part of our society in the last 10 years you usually can’t go anywhere without finding someone gaming, people are gaming in the bathroom, on the train to work, on the bus to school, and on long car rides with their family. Here are our top five mobile games.

I’m sure many of you have at least heard the name HearthStone If you haven’t, you must be living under a rock. In HearthStone before you start playing you are given a choice between 9 heroes to play as although if you find you don’t like the hero you can switch to another at any time outside of battles. The Heroes are as follows.

  • Warrior-Garrosh Hellscream. Aggressive and Defensive Play style. Hero Power. Armor Up! adds two armor points.
  • Shaman-Thrall. Well rounded vanguard type, can be played offensively, defensively, or aggressively. Hero Power: Totemic Call which let’s you summon a random totem.
  • Rogue-Valeera Sanguinar. Assassin type deals damage directly to the player instead of having to go through the other player’s minions. Hero Power: Dagger Mastery, allowing you to equip a 1/2 dagger.
  • Paladin-Uther The Lightbringer. Harass your opponents while healing your minions and damaging the enemy with spells. Hero Power: Reinforce which lets you summon a 1/1 silver hand recruit.
  • Hunter-Rexxar. Aggressive play style which uses buffs to take down the enemy minions as well as damage the player directly via his bow. Hero Power: Steady Shot deals two damage to the enemy hero.
  • Druid-Malfurion Stormrage. Defensive and Aggressive hero who can summon shape shifting minions, regens mana, quickly and brings many high damage spells to the board. Hero Power: Shapeshift which is +1 attack this turn and +1 armor.
  • Warlock-Gul’dan. Uses low-cost powerful minions to bombard his enemies. Hero Power: Life Tap which draws a card and takes two damage.
  • Mage-Jaina Proudmore. A Pure DPS Hero! Uses spells to burn, freeze, and hex her enemies, definitely a deadly opponent. Hero Power: Fireblast which deals one damage.
  • Priest-Anduin Wrynn. Uses spells to heal themselves and their minions as well as buff them and use mind control on enemy minions to take down other players with their own cards. Hero Power: Lesser Heal to restore two Health points.

Have you ever wanted to create a disease and wipe out all human life on earth? If you answered yes then Plague Inc is the game for you. In Plague Inc, you as the player create and indirectly control a disease that has infected patient 0. In the game, you can choose between a variety of modes and pathogens such as Bacteria, Virus, Fungus, Parasite, Prion, Nano-Virus, Bio-Weapon, Neurax Worm, Necroa Virus, Simian Flu, and Shadow Plague.

Each of these diseases has their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own playstyles. Some diseases move slowly but are more resilient to vaccines. You must also be careful not make you disease spread too quickly or too slowly because then the humans (Your enemy) will eventually figure out a cure and your game will be over. Thus the importance of evolving your disease, like making it airborne or waterborne.

The popular board game finally goes mobile! Fortune Street Smart is like a more in depth and advanced reversed monopoly in that instead of trying to get everyone else to lose all their money you are simply trying to have the most. Each map you play has a different strategy to it, you can’t use the same strategy every time and expect to win. You have to change your strategy with each map and each new opponent, you will also have to plan on using the stock market that’s in the game to your advantage and learn how to read it and try to guess what it’s going to do so you can win fast.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Finally, the hit Fire Emblem series made its way to mobile in Fire Emblem Heroes. It is a turn-based strategic JRPG with easy touch and drag attacking. Unlike other Fire Emblem games where colors represented elemental affinities, colors in this game represent weapons, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Red weapons are strong against green ones, which are strong against blue ones, which are strong against red ones. Having a well-balanced team that counters the enemy effectively will be the key to victory in the game. The story has eight chapters each with five parts, totaling 40 levels. The game will feature familiar faces from other FE titles as well as new heroes just for this game.
